A promise is a promise.

We got married on the 29th of June last year so this weekend we celebrated our “cotton wedding”. The days and weeks before our wedding we had really shitty weather in Belgium. So we tried to let the odds change in our favor and went to Scherpenheuvel to burn a candle. Superstitious much… There on that day we made a promise; “If we even have an itsy bit of nice weather on our wedding day, we are going on a pilgrimage”.

These our some picture of our wedding day proving that the sun was in our presence. So you can figure out our weekend activity…

(The pictures of the wedding were taking by CCeyssens in case you’re wondering)

We left at 5AM saturday morning for a 45km-long trip. It took us about 11 hours to get there.

Someone really hates posing!

After 20km I hit rock bottom but actually never thought about giving up! Jens did quite well and is now planning to participate in “De Dodentoch/The hike of dead” (100km) in August. Me; This time I made a promise to myself. I’m never doing this again and a promise is a promise.

This nice bus cheered me up for a little while.

We made it!

Jens’ groomsman were waiting for us at the place of pelgrimage. We burned a few candles again. This time for our loved ones. Afterwards we spend a night on a campsite nearby.
