Côte d’Opale

Last summer we visited the Côte d’Opale during the weekend of the Feast of Ascension (15th of August). It became a family weekend. Both our sisters and our brother in law joined us during the trip.

Like real Belgians we first stopped at a snack bar for some chips. A little thing we do before each trip.. We stopped at ” Frituur Francine”. Jens his fried noodles snack smelled like dishwater. Not very tasty!

But Miete enjoyed her burger!

We bitches go in the back! The reason: Jens and my brother in law, Brecht, are in kind of a bromance.

First stop was de Panne in Belgium because we left at 4 o’clock after a day at work. Because of a traffic jam we did 6 hours on a trip that actually takes 2.. We arrived late and went to the first campsite we saw.

The next morning we decided to go for breakfast at the beach. To bad the day started cloudy.

We drove further to Le Crotoy and there was the sun. Le Crotoy; a beautiful town in the department of Somme and the hometown of the French writer Jules Verne. Le Crotoy has a really beautiful bay were you can see the tides change drastically.

In the evening we went to a seafood restaurant. But again the French kitchen was a disappointment..

The next day was a lazy day at our campsite. We cooked, we went for a swim and we cooked a meal. Dolce far niente…

The next day we drove back north to Boulogne sur Mer. Were my sister was meeting us. If you want you can see Great Britain on the other site of the sea.
